The Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity (SBSD) in partnership with Ferguson Enterprises will be presenting its first Contractor’s Training Program: Construction Training: Building a Solid Construction Business. 

This course is open to all trades in the Construction Industry. The training will focus primarily on continuing education for our SWaM Certified Vendors and will provide resources to assist them in becoming more competitive in bidding and estimating for state contracts.

To qualify for the training, you must meet the basic qualifications:

• Minimum of $250,000 in Annual Revenue
• Must be in business a minimum of 3 years
• SWaM Certification must be Current
• Must be committed to attending the class (7 sessions – 3 1/2 weeks)

February 1st – Info Session, 4-6pm
February 8th – Application Due
February 17th – Notification of Selection
February 28th – Orientation, 4-6pm
March 2nd – Session 1, Business Basics, 2-6pm
March 7th – Session 2, Financial Understanding, 2-6pm
March 9th – Session 3, Overhead & Markups/Margins & Breakeven (2hrs) 2-6pm
March 9th – Session 4, Managing Budgets (2hrs), 2-6pm
(Session 3 & 4 – Same day)
March 14th – Session 5, Estimating, 2-6pm
March 16st – Session 6, Project Management-Part 1, 2-6pm
March 21st – Session 7, Job Management-Part 2, 2-6pm

SBSD will be hosting an Information Session for interested applicants on February 1, 2017, 4:00pm – 6:00pm at the Hampton University Small Business Incubator, 6 W. County Street, Hampton, VA.

NO COST for training and spaces will be limited to QUALIFYING applicants. If you meet the basic qualifications and would like to be considered, please complete the application (APPLICATION) and bring with you to the information session on February 1st. (RSVP IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND INFORMATION SESSION…. LIMTED SEATING).
