Emma Wyatt from The Innovate Fund, a New Markets Tax Credits CDE, will present on the basic overview of the New Markets Tax Credit program. The NMTC program is a federal tax incentive program designed to encourage investment for businesses and community facilities in distressed communities. This overview will describe the role tax credits serve in incentivizing corporations to invest in low-income communities, provide the formulas to calculate when and how many credits are claimed based on the project size, and provide opportunities for participants to know if their projects would be eligible for NMTC.
